Why Water? “Everyone” knows we should drink water but do you know why?

Water makes up approximately 70% of our body weight and has an important part to play in maintaining health and well-being.


  1. In 37% of Australians, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger. 75% of people are chronically dehydrated. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a USA-Washington study.
  2. MILD dehydration will slow down one’s metabolism as much as 3%.
  3. Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue. (And you thought it was having young children). A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
  4. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
  5. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.
  6. Water helps to dissolve and flush out the toxic poisons that accumulate in our bodies. In the body, water acts as a solvent and dissolves food particles so that they can be taken into every cell of the body.

Many people do not give much thought to how pure is their drinking water. What looks clear and inviting can contain various amounts of pollution which could lead to serious illness which is a whole other topic.

The purest form of water is steam distilled, this is equivalent to rainwater. Be kind to yourself and your body drink more water. You will be forever thankful for the improvements to your body and your health. I personally have been drinking the brand Refresh water for at least 15 years now.
