Grounding and How to Do it With a Thought

Grounding is a spiritual term, referring to the centering and balancing of your spiritual and physical energy within your body by connecting you with the earth. When you are grounded you feel like you are here, in the physical, in the present. Grounding is important for everyone, but especially critical if you have been doing spiritual development or psychic work

When you are grounded it can help you feel safer and more in touch with the earth and Mother Nature. If you experience a lot of fear and anxiety in your day-to-day, it is possible that you are not grounded.

When You Are Not Grounded You May Feel:
 lightheaded
 tired
 disconnected
 dazed
 like you are floating
 shaky
 flighty
 Dizziness
 Daydreaming
 A feeling of being ‘Spaced Out’
 Feeling sick
 Heart palpitations
 Eyes flickering
 Weight gain
 Bumping into things or other general feelings of clumsiness
 Static shocks
 Falling asleep when meditating
 Noise and light sensitive
 Forgetful
 Having brilliant ideas that never happen
 Arguing and unable to get your point across
 Feeling over stimulated and nervy

Usually you will experience the same one or two symptoms each time that you are not grounded.
Please note that many of these symptoms can also be linked to other physical conditions or illnesses, if in doubt always check with your GP.

So, what is the best way to ground yourself? It’s quite simple really – and you have choices.
Set an intention to ground and do any of the following!

  1. In your mind say, “I am connecting and grounding myself to Mother Earth now”.
  2. Go outside and stand on the grass or the dirt. (even better bare footed.) Feel the earth under your feet.
  3. Another great way to ground yourself is to go for a short walk in nature.
  4. Gardening is also excellent! Get outside and put your hands in some soil (no gardening gloves). Be at one with the earth!
  5. You can stand or sit under a large tree and visualize your energy merging with the tree roots. Imagine and feel roots coming out of the soles of your feet and connecting with the roots of the tree and traveling deep into Mother Earth. This can be called meditation.
  6. Meditation is wonderful for just about anything. Sit upright comfortably with your feet planted on the floor. Imagine your feet have roots (like a tree) and are anchoring themselves deep into the earth. Breathe and allow yourself to be balanced.
  7. Physical activity, moving your body can help you feel more centered quickly.
  8. Carrying certain stones and crystals are great for grounding as well.
  9. Salts baths are wonderful because of their natural healing properties. Combine that with the cleansing properties of water and you’ve got a winning combo! Sea salt, Himalayan Salt or Epson Salts are excellent choices. Add about a cup or so to the warm, running water.
Sit and enjoy for 20 – 30 minutes.

When you are grounded, and feeling centered, you are less likely to be influenced by negative forces.

Interestingly, drugs and alcohol un-ground a person and you are more likely to pick up negative energies while under the influence. If you want to have a few drinks, it is better to have them with a heavy meal.

It is also known that the body can put on a few extra kilos to assist with grounding. This is more common than you would believe, particularly for those on a spiritual path that are holding more of their soul and higher vibration.

Being grounded is not the natural state for a human being, it is something we have to do. Watch a toddler and notice how happy they look while playing outside.

Do you ever have those days where you think you should’ve stayed in bed? Days when everything seems to go wrong, that is how un-grounded feels. Compare that to a day when you feel great and everything goes well, when you are grounded.

One of my spiritual teachers used to say if you need to ground yourself 10,000 times a day then do it 10,000 times a day!

The following ritual is one of the ways I ground myself and like all rituals if you do it often enough it becomes part of your psyche; then just thinking about grounding will cause you to ground.

Taking a deep breath and setting the intention to ground, I find as I do this now my breath gets deeper and slower.
I say to myself “I open my base chakra and I open my feet chakras and I reconnect to Mother Earth”. I imagine 3 cords with a hook on the end, one from each chakra coming together and extending into the earth, all the way to the centre of the earth. Sometimes I imagine it going through different levels of dirt, rock, crystals and even underground streams.
I then imagine I’m breathing in through these cords, connecting me to the earth strongly. I imagine every cell in my body filling with the grounding energy.
Sometimes I will breathe the energy into each chakra one at a time, energising and balancing each one as it progresses through me.

Grounding can happen anywhere anytime, you do not require special tools or even need to be touching the earth. You can ground from an aeroplane, or a boat, from a chair or a bed, you just have to set the intention to ground.

As you can see, there are many ways to ground yourself, to become more centered and connected to Mother Earth. I hope this information has been informative and useful if you have any questions then please contact me 🙏❤
