How to Recognise, Love and Appreciate the Miracles in Your Life!

what is a miracleHow to recognise, love and appreciate the miracles in your life! What does a miracle look like to you? I have many great teachers and one of them Duane Alley sells these beautiful little cards that say “Expect a Miracle” on them. I love these cards and have several around the house.

At a seminar last week with another great teacher Anthony (Tony) Robbins where he asked the question what is a miracle? He went on to talk about what most people expect a miracle to be, which is huge or accompanied by fireworks or shooting stars, he then said “if you don’t know what a miracle looks like how will you know when you have seen one?” This is a very good question and certainly not one I had asked myself previously.

Tony then went on to share stories on what could be called a miracle, my favourite was: you’re sitting on a chair in an aeroplane and flying, that’s a miracle, you’re sitting on the toilet in an aeroplane, flying, that’s another miracle, you’re sleeping while in an aeroplane that’s flying, that’s definitely a miracle because even birds can’t do that. By this time the whole audience was laughing and if you have ever heard him talk you know I have left out a lot of expletives that does add to the humour.

Laughter aside now because this is a very serious subject; how can we expect miracles if we don’t know what a miracle looks like? The dictionary definition of a miracle is:

  1. An effect or extraordinary event in the physical world that surpasses all known human or natural powers and is ascribed to a supernatural cause.
  2. Such an effect or event manifesting or considered as a work of God.

everything-is-a-miracleMost of us think of miracles as in the dictionary definition rather than seeing miracles and wonderment surrounding us each and every day. It is my new mission to see and appreciate the beauty in each and every day so that I notice the miracles in my life.

“There is only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as if everything is.” Albert Einstein

The more you recognise, love and appreciate the miracles in your life the more you will receive and that is the power of gratitude, another topic for another day. So far my miracles today are: I got to speak to my sister, I helped someone see past their story and my little rescue dog did not go ballistic when there was a knock at the door. I would love for you to share what a miracle looks like to you in the comments below.
