Monsters don’t sleep under your bed; they sleep inside your head.
The First Universal Truth: Thought creates.
This means you are the creator of your reality, you create it with your thoughts. Your thoughts create your feelings and beliefs. I don’t mean those positive thoughts/affirmations you remember to say at times throughout the day, but the ones that you are thinking day in, day out the ones you are not aware of hearing. These are the ones that create your reality! The monsters inside your head!
I remember the very first time I consciously heard that voice and it shocked me. It was during a week when we had overseas visitors and I was having a great time showing them our wonderful city. We were just heading home for a change of clothes before going out for dinner and as I drove the car around a corner I heard myself think “I am so unhappy”. Now where did that come from? I couldn’t believe I was thinking that as I was having such a great week!
Hearing that one thought allowed me to:
1. Hear other hidden thoughts.
2. To say No to these thoughts.
3. To begin a whole new chapter of my life.
“Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your own unguarded thoughts.” Buddha.
To change your current reality, all you need do is change the frequency of your thoughts! I know that sounds like a throwaway line and I do not mean to sound flippant because it is absolutely true. If you change your inner dialogue your life will change.
The mind is always buzzing about something. Fortunately most of the thoughts are repetitive, dwelling in the past, fearful of the future or simply utter nonsense. I don’t think we need to control our thoughts. Just by hearing them, becoming aware of them you will automatically begin to change them.
For me initially I used to say (out loud if I was alone, didn’t want people thinking I was any nuttier than they already did!) “No I do not accept that! I am (insert how I wanted to think and or feel)” With practise it gets easier to hear what you are thinking and to make the adjustments you want.
This is a life time pattern because like everything in life your focus shifts and then one day you check in on your inner thoughts and holy moly how did those monsters get there! I know this because it was 20 years ago I heard them for the first time and it was last week I heard a deeply hidden, old pattern thought, and there has been countless in between.
There have been many prominent people with thoughts on thinking:
“Whatever your mind can conceive and can believe, it can achieve.” Napoleon Hill
“Whatever we think about and thank about we bring about.” John Demartini
“Whether you think you can or can’t either way you are right.” Henry Ford
“Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
“The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking.” Albert Einstein
“We are addicted to our thoughts. We cannot change anything if we cannot change our thinking.” Santosh Kalwar
